The Virginian hosts over 600 boys and girls teams from ages 9-19. These teams come from Canada, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginian and Washington, D.C. Your team is invited to apply to compete in the 43rd Annual Virginian Elite Soccer Tournament to be played May 26-28, 2018. The Virginian is a Class I tournament open to USYSA FIFA affiliated club/league teams, as well as US Club Soccer Teams. It is an approved tournament of the Virginia Youth Soccer Association affiliated with USYSC, USSF and FIFA.

TOURNAMENT DIVISION CRITERIA:
Virginian Cup – Top teams from each State for U9-U19
Premier Gold – Premier teams in each age group, typically Division I, II and III teams
Premier Silver – Teams that compete in Division IV and below
Premier Bronze – Teams competing in lower league play or developing teams
NUMBER OF GAMES:
Each team will be scheduled to play a minimum of three (3) games for play on Saturday and Sunday. If unforeseen circumstances, such as weather or late withdrawals, force games to be cancelled, the Virginian is not liable and there will be no refunds for unplayed games. Championship games are scheduled for Monday. The Virginian Elite Soccer Tournament will make every attempt to grant scheduling requests for the weekend. However, due to the size and scope of the competition, this may not always be possible. Age groups are based on the date of birth of the oldest player:
GAME FORMATS/ROSTER SIZE:
U-9 and U-10 age groups will play 7v7 on smaller fields.
U11 and U12 will play 9v9 on smaller fields.
U-13 thru U-19 will play on full size fields
Teams playing U9 and U10 (7v7) may have up to 15 players of which a maximum of seven (7) may be guest players, and teams playing U11 and U12 (9v9) may have up to 16 players of which a maximum of seven (7) may be guest players. Teams playing U13 (11v11) may have up to 18 players and teams U14 and older may have 22 players of which a maximum of seven (7) may be guest players. Teams entered for competition must be (1) in a league affiliated with the USSF or national equivalent and (2) sanctioned by the appropriate State, National Association or Club.
The winning team in each Championship game will receive a Virginian Cup Team Trophy and each player will receive a Champions Award. Each player on the runner-up team will receive a Finalist Award.
COLLEGE BOND ATHLETES – PLAYER PROFILE:
All U-15 through U-19 teams accepted to the Virginian have the opportunity to submit summary information on their players and have this information included in the “College Player Profile Book” which the Virginian provides to the college coaches or their representatives at the Virginian.
The U16-U19 age groups, offer teams a broad range of competitive challenges as players begin to seriously prepare for the collegiate experience. These divisions will be competing on top quality turf field complexes, co-located to maximize exposure opportunities to visiting college coaches.
Prior to the start of competition, teams must present proof of affiliation and permission to travel, validated State, US Club Soccer, or Provincial player passes, as well as parental medical release forms which are required for all players. Team check-in will be done electronically. Details will be posted under the Teams tab on the tournament website.
As a convenience to teams, the Virginian will have copies of all forms available for downloading from our web site.
