College Outreach

The Virginian has been privileged to witness many of our players grow over the years - developing from boys and girls with tremendous potential and enthusiasm into very talented and mature young adults seeking to broaden and strengthen their skills at the collegiate level. With 33 years of history, we have also been tremendously fortunate to even see some of our early players pass through the collegiate ranks, rising to become the leaders of our community and nation, some even returning as coaches teaching their own children the game of soccer. We understand the value that athletics can play in bringing out the best in these individuals and the Virginian is committed to helping each of you achieve your goals.

For those individuals seeking to continue their athletic development at the collegiate level, the Virginian offers several opportunities.

  • Competitive play for all players - Our divisions and brackets ensure teams are well matched and play is very competitive. Only through good, strong competition can the skills and talents of players be truly demonstrated.

  • Player exposure - Historically there are between 50 and 100 Collegiate coaches and representative attending Virginian matches. The Virginian provides an excellent opportunity for coaches to see players, and players to be seen.

  • College Recruiting -Teaming with SoccerInCollege, we have significantly improved our ability to establish relationships between players and colleges. We match players to colleges of their choice, making these colleges aware of the player’s interest, and communicating important player data to the collegiate coaches through emails, player profiles and the Coaches Book.

  • College Panel - - This unique program provides valuable information to students who intend to pursue collegiate soccer. The event will be held Saturday evening and is free to all attendees. A panel of coaches and players will provide important information for prospective student-athletes. Players will listen to the coaches as they explain their recruiting process. Prospective athletes will learn the differences between a Div I program and a Div III program. Athletes can hear collegiate players describing their experiences and telling what playing in college is really like. There will be a question and answer session for athletes as well. This year’s event promises to continue the tradition of excellence exemplified during previous years.  Information on the 2008 College Panel will be available in April.

The Virginian takes great pride in the level of talent of the college bound players that attend our tournament. We strive to ensure the your experience at the Virginian meets all your expectations - from the competitive level of play, the opportunities for exposure to college coaches, to our forums that provide additional insight into the collegiate experience and recruiting process.
